Campaign Suggestions
When one-off games have lost their luster and players want to try something with some longevity and long term impact, we suggest a mini campaign. Below are some of the rules we regularly use. Feel free to pick and choose from them, modify them as you deem fit, and add your own. Our recommendation is that all players agree to the rules of the campaign before you start.
MAP CAMPAIGN (SAMPLE RULES):
1. This will be a FANTASY campaign.
2. Sides will be determined before the campaign begins.
3. All armies will start at 2000 points, maximum of FOUR cards (excluding commander bonus cards), per player.
4. Each army MUST have a field commander.
5. No one figure (with weapons and abilities) can be more than ¼ the total points of the army.
6. Rosters will be PERSISTANT (i.e. Remainders from one battle will be the starting core for the next battle).
7. ONE TIME ONLY armies will play at 2000 points (all army rules apply), and will award the opposing side an equal amount of RESERVE reinforcements for that battle only.
8. Before each game, the map will be consulted, and a d10 thrown to determine the sector of conflict. A 2-9 will be a specific sector (see the map attached), a “1” being the “evil” side choosing a sector, a “10” the “good” side gets to choose.
9. The side with the fewer points is awarded defensive works equal to the point difference FOR THAT BATTLE ONLY.
10. Battles will last FOUR turns.
11. The side that was determined the unanimous victor wins that tile on the map.
12. At the end of each battle, lost “unit elements” (turret, module, character, etc.) will make a die roll. A “1” restores the “unit” to the army as if it were ”wounded and recovered”. Casualty restoration and army recalculation will be done at the end of the battle with all present.
13. After each battle, we will vote a figure MVP. That FIGURE will get a free 100 point upgrade.
14. As casualties are taken, they must be replaced with follow-on points, they will not be automatic.
15. Units can be upgraded with follow-on points as long as they do not violate rule #2
16. Each escalating game will reward each force with 2000 points per player to replace losses and augment the player’s force. This will cause armies to become unbalanced. Points are awarded and replaced on an army by army basis.
17. At the end of the series, the side with the most map control will be deemed the victor of the series.
MINI ESCALATION CAMPAIGN
One of our most popular campaigns is the mini escalation campaign. Once a genre is determined, each player starts off with a chosen army at an established point value (2-4000). We typically run six games. Each game the players add a number of points (typically 1000). This is especially good if you want to encourage players to paint their armies, as a low start point enables them to get painted with a smallish force, and allows them to purchase and paint small
additions for growth.
